All About The Little Ones
Hi, I’m Rachel.
I’m a Speech Pathologist but also a Mum of 2 young children. I have always loved working with babies, toddlers and young children during their early years. It's my favourite age and where I focus my time and energy.
The first six years are such an important time for communication development. They are also the years when parents can find themselves wondering:
Should they be saying more?
Does that sound normal?
Should I wait and see?
Do we need some help?
Little Ones was created to make getting that support feel simpler. In 2021, I moved from a traditional clinic to a mobile early childhood service with a special focus on babies, toddlers and young children from birth to 6 years.
I work closely with families and aim to understand your whole little human, including their communication, personality, interests, temperament and everyday environment to work out what support will genuinely make a difference.
Sometimes that means a simple communication screening and reassurance that things are on track. Sometimes it means practical strategies to use while we monitor development or joining my parent program. And sometimes a child will benefit from a 1:1 comprehensive assessment and a more structured therapy plan.
My approach is evidence-based, practical and focused on meaningful progress, while still recognising that young children learn best when they feel comfortable, connected and engaged. Therapy should feel like something that fits naturally into childhood and family life, not another stressful appointment to get through.
As a mum raising young children myself, I understand that family life is already so full. My goal is not to give you an impossible list of things to do at home. It is to help you understand your child’s communication and find realistic, effective ways to support their development within the life you are already living. It's my personal goal to find ways to make this actually work for you.
Whether you have a small niggling concern or already know your child needs some extra support, we can work out the next step together.

Hello.
I am a speech pathologist but also a mother to three who is obsessed with helping with young children to talk.
First off, I graduated from The University of Sydney with First-Class Honours in Speech Pathology and am a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist (CPSP) and member of Speech Pathology Australia.
Speech pathology is the work I love. I am endlessly fascinated by how children learn to communicate, I'm obsessed with how small changes can unlock meaningful change, and how much the right support at the right time can change a child’s (and their parents mind you...) everyday experience. I honestly cannot imagine doing anything else.
As Owner and Principal Speech Pathologist at Little Ones, my clinical focus is babies, toddlers and young children during the early years of communication development. I provide evidence-based assessment and therapy across speech, language and communication, with support carefully tailored to each child’s developmental needs, personality, interests and family life.
I care deeply about getting the clinical thinking right. That means not only knowing what to work on, but knowing what matters now, what can wait, and what will make the greatest difference for your child.
Sometimes that means reassurance and monitoring. Sometimes it means practical strategies you can use straight away. And sometimes it means a more comprehensive assessment or structured therapy plan.
I am an approved Medicare Provider for eligible referred services and also support families accessing speech pathology through the NDIS.
Above all, I want families to feel they have someone in their corner. As a mum of three young children myself, I have lived the beautiful, messy, exhausting reality of the early years, and I understand how much parents want clear answers, practical support and someone who genuinely sees their child. That lived experience has only deepened the way I practise and the care I bring to every family I work with.
This work matters enormously to me, and I feel incredibly lucky to spend my days helping little ones communicate, connect and be understood.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where do you provide sessions?
Little Ones Speech Pathology provides mobile speech pathology appointments across the Sutherland Shire and St George area.
Sessions can usually take place wherever your child is most comfortable and where therapy will fit best into everyday life, including:
your home
preschool
daycare
school
Other options are also available:
Clinic appointments at the Little Ones office in the Sutherland Shire
Telehealth sessions via Zoom where appropriate
If you are unsure whether your location is within the mobile service area, please get in touch and I can let you know what options are available.
Why choose mobile therapy?
For many young children, therapy works beautifully in a familiar environment.
Children are often more comfortable in places they already know. Seeing your child at home, daycare, preschool or school can help them feel more settled and can give me a more natural picture of how they communicate in everyday situations.
It can also make therapy easier for families. Rather than adding another trip, parking challenge or unfamiliar appointment into an already busy week, therapy can happen somewhere your child is already spending time.
For some children and families, clinic or telehealth appointments may be a better fit. We can work out together which option makes the most sense for your child.
Little Ones Speech Pathology provides a range of supports for young children and their families, including:
Communication screenings to check how your child’s speech, language and communication skills are developing and help determine whether further assessment or support may be helpful.
Parent coaching and group programs providing practical, evidence-based strategies to help you understand and support your child’s communication development in everyday life.
Comprehensive speech pathology assessments for areas including speech sounds, language, fluency, voice and broader communication development.
Individual speech pathology therapy with personalised goals and therapy plans tailored to your child’s needs, interests, stage of development and family priorities.
Parent education and support to help you understand what we are working on, why it matters and how communication skills can be supported naturally between sessions.
Workshops, training and education for parents, educators, teachers and other professionals supporting children’s communication development.
Reports and written documentation including assessment reports, progress summaries, screening outcomes, Medicare and NDIS documentation, handover information and discharge summaries where required.
Collaboration with your child’s support team, including family members, educators, teachers, medical professionals and allied health professionals, with your permission and where this will support your child’s care.

Want to work together?
I’d genuinely love to hear from you.
If you are wondering about your child’s communication, unsure whether speech pathology is the right next step, or simply want to understand how Little Ones works before making a booking, you are welcome to book a 15-minute phone or video call with me.
As a mum myself, I completely understand wanting to ask a few questions and get a feel for something before committing your time, energy and money. Sometimes a short conversation is all you need to feel clearer about what to do next.
You can use the call to ask about anything that is on your mind, including:
something you have noticed about your child’s communication
a concern raised by an educator, teacher or doctor
whether screening, assessment, therapy or monitoring may be appropriate
your child’s personality, interests or previous therapy experiences
appointment availability, fees and how sessions work
whether home, daycare, preschool or school-based sessions may suit your child
Medicare or NDIS funding, where relevant
anything else you would like to understand before getting started
You do not need to have everything worked out before you call. Sometimes parents simply have a feeling that something is worth checking, and that is more than enough reason to ask.
There are no questions that are too small or too early. I am always happy to talk things through and help you work out whether Little Ones feels like the right fit for your child and family.
And if I think another pathway or service may suit your child better, I will always be recommending that too.. I have a wonderful referral network with other speech pathologists and health professionals!
Yes. Once your session is paid in full, an invoice with payment receipt will be issued to you via email. You can claim back a rebate from your health fund using this. The amount will vary depending on your fund and level of coverage
You will need to book into your family GP and ask if you are eligible for either a CDM (Chronic Disease Management) Plan or M10 (Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorders and Eligible Disabilities).
You can ask the GP to allocate the referral to Little Ones Speech Pathology. The plan will give you up to 5 sessions per year to use (CDM) or up to 8 assessment sessions and 20 therapy sessions (M10) in a lifetime.
